Do you like cabbage rolls, but they take too much time to make?
Here’s a great one using ground turkey and cauliflower (instead of rice)…great way to get some added veggies into the kids. You can even cook these with some fresh cranberry sauce. We’ve modified it slightly from a paleo cookbook called ‘Practical Paleo’…

Cabbage Rolls
• 1 cabbage – Metro has a great one already cored and soaked in brine and vacuum packed; just open the package and take the leaves off! – it comes from St Jacobs. Other option … freeze your cabbage and when it thaws it will be soft enough to roll and fill … if you can’t do that … core your own, and place in a pot with about 2-3 inches of water and cook until soft.
• 1.5 cups finely grated cauliflower
• 1/3 cup of organic plain spaghetti sauce (use a 798ml jar and reserve the rest)
• sea salt/herbamore and pepper to taste
• 1 tsp sage
• 1 tsp rosemary
• 1 tsp thyme
• 1 tbsp fresh parsley
• 1.5 lbs ground turkey
• 2 cloves minced garlic
• 1/2 medium onion diced

Mix all ingredients (except cabbage) in a bowl. Pull apart 12 cabbage leaves. On one end of the cabbage add 1/4 cup of the above mixture. Roll the mixture inside the cabbage leaf, folding in the ends of the cabbage as you go. Place seam side down in a baking dish. Mix the cranberry sauce (below) with the remaining spaghetti sauce, cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Fresh Cranberry Sauce
• 1 pkg cranberries, fresh or frozen
• 1/4 cup water (I also like to use fresh squeezed OJ)
• 1 grated apple
• 4-8 drops stevia extract or to taste

Place all ingredients in a medium pot. Heat to boiling and simmer until cranberries begin to pop. Cool.

Brand or Logo?

Let’s start by clearing up any misconceptions between logos (also known as brand identity) and brands. In his book, Logo Design Workbook, designer Sean Adams describes it this way: A logo is not a brand unless it’s on a cow. A brand, rather, is the perception formed in the audience’s mind about a company, person or idea. This perception is the culmination of the logo, visuals, identity program, messages, products and actions. The designer doesn’t make a brand. Only the audience can do this. The designer’s role is to create one of the most important aspects of the brand—the logo or brand identity system.

A logo or brand identity can’t make a bad product or company better, but a well-designed identity will help position a product or company to realize its full potential. Brand identity builds awareness and customer loyalty. A company that invests in a creating a professional brand identity gives its management, sales agents, and employees a great tool to inspire team spirit internally and to connect with its customers in the marketplace. A professional identity becomes the face of a company or organization and is often the first connection between the brand and its target audience. In today’s mobile-enabled world there has never been greater opportunity for brand exposure and experiences. We all want to make a favourable first impression, don’t we?

There are 2 things we wanted to talk about this month. The first is the ‘flu’ and second is a story (a true one)!

Let’s start with the story. This may shed some light on some health issues people may be having. A week ago, I (Christine) was involved in a car accident. It’s expected to have some muscle aches and pains afterwards; it’s expected to be thrown out of whack emotionally. What I didn’t expect was breaking out in hives that evening and over the next week. They were on my neck, hands, legs, lower back, etc. It would be random throughout the day, in the morning, at night, when a room was too warm, certain clothing… If I had not just been through something as obvious as an accident, I would’ve assumed I was reacting to something I’ve ingested, touched or put on my skin. Now I could very well be sensitive to something like that but my body wasn’t showing any external symptoms – it was trying to manage things on it’s own internally! The added stress suddenly placed on my body, overloaded my circuits and created the cascade of symptoms… does that make sense? Well, the following quote should make more sense to everyone:

“Allergy is the cumulative effect of many insults to the body which over time haveoverwhelmed the body’s protective mechanisims. While dust may appear to be the cause of your runny nose, in reality it is only the trigger that activates the symptoms”

In my case the stress was the trigger that activated my symptoms… a powerful aha moment!

Okay, moving onwards…
It’s that time of year when the flu bug starts to show it’s nasty little self! We thought we’d give you a good little preventative protocol to help prevent you from being a target. This involves doing a few things:

A. Taking a few natural remedies – what are these you ask…well there are 4 of them and they’re homeopathic: Drg Milieu, Fl Milieu, Vac-Tox and Solray D spray and this is how to take them:

Every symptom is a healing strategy

This month we thought it would be beneficial to provide some important insights regarding allergies, sensitivities, intolerances (or whatever you’d like to call them):

1. Balance – when a body is in balance, all of it’s tissues and organs are able to function properly. Just think of a scale, when something weighs you down on one side, the body will be able to adjust and balance the scale by adding something to the other side. When you make continuous poor lifestyle choices, the body eventually becomes exhausted and can no longer balance the scale…and guess what…symptoms begin! It’s a sign that the body is struggling to cope with it’s internal and external environment.

2. Any symptom can be an allergy – A reaction can be immediate or more often delayed by up to 3-4 days. As an example, you eat the hotdog and you get diarhea later that day. You would probably recognize that the hotdog was the trigger. If on the other hand you ate a red pepper and a few days later noticed some joint pain, you would never think to make the connection.

3. Nutrient deficiency – When someone has an issue with a food they consume, the body will have difficulty absorbing its nutrients. Take milk for example, someone may drink several glasses daily but still be calcium deficient if they have an issue with milk!

4. Allergic Load – When the body has reached their maximum exposure to chemicals, food sensitivities, environmental pollution, etc…symptoms will appear. Total toxins + body malfunction = symptoms. In other words, if you have symptoms you must PAY ATTENTION. On the other side of the coin, ZERO symptoms does NOT imply health!!! These statements are really important because every food and substance we are exposed to have been tampered and altered in some way and our body has to cope with it.

5. Allergies don’t have a single cause – this can best be summarized by the following quote: “Allergy is the cumulative effect of many insults to the body which over time have overwhelmed the body’s protective mechanisims. 6. Take responsibility – There’s a famous definition for insanity: “Do the same thing over and over again, and expect different results”. If you keep the same habits that got you here in the first place, how can you get better? Remember, it’s taken years for your body to get to where it is, it can’t jump back to health overnight! You can be shown the path to better health, but it’s your choice as to whether to follow it…but know this…you will take the path only when YOU’RE ready and some never will be!

Do you crave certain foods often?
Do you eat something knowing you’ll pay for it later?
Do you feel better after eating something?
Are you in denial – “I eat it all the time, I’m fine”
You can’t stop eating that certain something once you start…ie finish the whole bag!?

Well, guess what… you may be addicted and allergic!

Why is that?

First of all, we spend almost 70% of our day eating/digesting something – eating a lot, oftenand it takes absolutely forever to pass through our system (from our mouth to our cells or out the other end)

The more we consume the same thing (the big ones are wheat, corn, dairy, eggs, sugar, soy), the more our body has to use the same ‘digestive enzymes’ to digest that item. Eventually we become depleted in that enzyme and are no longer able to digest it properly…this stresses out our pancreas (one of the primary organs responsible for secreting enzymes). Just think sugar is in everything we eat (even salt). We eat dairy and wheat all day long every day. Eggs are in everything (even vaccines) and well, then soy is the newby!

It’s easier to get addicted to a refined processed food. Sugaraddiction is a perfect example. Real Whole Sugar Cane has all it’s nutrients. When it’s processed into white sugar everything has been stripped away and the body has to supply all the nutrients in order to digest it properly. This leads to nutrient deficiency and metabolic imbalance…leading again to addiction and cravings….In other words, you all need to see us to rebalance yourselves for sugar (LOL)!

To add insult to injury, most of us have compromised (incompetent) digestive systems. We can’t transform and transport nutrients properly. This triggers our immune system to come in and clean up the mess – ie attack and disarm undigested food particles. This is NOT the immune system’s real job!

So now what? You need to do to correct those addictions:
1) Replace the refined foods with real foods
2) Let us help you heal your incompetent gut
