Many entrepreneurs ask this question when starting a new business.

You are not required to register for GST/HST until your annual revenues exceed $30,000. However, it is generally recommended to register as soon as possible for the following reasons:
• Without registration you cannot claim GST/HST input tax credits (GST/HST paid on business expenses).

If your GST/HST taxable expenses are higher than your GST/HST taxable sales you can claim a refund of the excess from Canada Revenue Agency.
• If you are not registered for GST/HST, you are broadcasting to everyone that you have a truly small business that generates less than $30,000 per year in sales. Do you really want everyone to know that?

Keep in mind that if your customers are other businesses, then the GST/HST that you charge on sales does not represent a direct cost for them. Most businesses expect to pay GST/HST and would be surprised if you do not charge it.
• Businesses that are required to register for GST/HST must remit it to Canada Revenue Agency – even if it has not been collected from the customer.

If you forget to register for GST/HST and your sales surpass the $30,000 level, you will find yourself being registered retroactively and having to pay GST/HST out of your own pocket.
Read more details about GST/HST here and plan to register as soon as you can.

Oshawa, June 4, 2013…The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) announced today that on May 31, 2013, Ms. Doreen Tennina was found guilty in the Superior Court of Justice in Oshawa, Ontario, on two counts of fraud over $5,000 under the Criminal Code and was sentenced to the maximum period of 10 years in jail on each count to be served concurrently. She was also ordered to pay a fine of $699,608 for causing her company, Executive Accounting, to fail to report income from the tax evasion scheme.

Ms. Tennina is currently under arrest in Spain, where she previously owned properties. Extradition proceedings are underway. Once Tennina is back in Canada she will commence serving her sentence.

Ms. Tennina, Director and owner of 1517069 Ontario Inc., also known as Executive Accounting, provided tax preparation and accounting related services.

In November 2006, the CRA, as part of their investigation, executed search warrants on Ms. Tennina’s residence, place of business and a storage facility. Documents obtained during the searches revealed that she had fraudulently claimed carrying charges and charitable donations totalling $58,500,000 on 4,200 income tax returns that she prepared on behalf of her clients for the 2003 to 2005 tax years. These false claims reduced the amount of federal taxes owed by over $10,000,000.

Ms. Tennina’s corporation, 1517069 Ontario Inc., failed to report taxable income of $2.8 million for the years 2003 to 2005 resulting in the evasion of $699,608 in federal tax.

The preceding information was obtained from the court records.

“Canadian taxpayers must have confidence in the fairness of the tax system,” said Darrell Mahoney, Assistant Commissioner, Ontario Region, CRA. “To maintain that confidence, the Canada Revenue Agency is determined to hold tax evaders accountable for their actions.”

Taxpayers who claim false expenses, credits or rebates from the government are subject to serious consequences. They are liable not only for corrections to their tax returns and payment of the full amount of tax owing, but also to penalties and interest. In addition, if convicted of tax evasion, the court may fine them up to 200% of the tax evaded and sentence them for up to a five-year jail term.

Taxpayers who have not filed returns for previous years, or who have not reported all of their income, can still voluntarily correct their tax affairs. They may not be penalized or prosecuted if they make a valid disclosure before they become aware of any compliance action being initiated by the CRA against them. These taxpayers may only have to pay the taxes owing, plus interest. More information on the Voluntary Disclosures Program (VDP) can be found on the CRA’s Web site at www.cra.gc.ca/voluntarydisclosures.

Further information on convictions can also be found in the Media Room on the CRA website at

“Vitamin D every day, helps to keep the doctor away!”

Happy New Year!

We thought it would be the perfect time of year to talk about Vitamin D. Here are 18 interesting facts about Vitamin D:

1. If you wear sunscreen or are behind glass, the UVB rays are blocked and you cannot make D

2. As your skin received sunshine and makes D, antioxidants are turned on in the skin of 91% of people. Their job is to deactivate the free radicals from UV radiation.

3. Depending on your skin colour, it make take 15-90 minutes of sun exposure to make sufficient D

4. If your sun exposure is in a polluted environment, D production is reduced as UVB rays are blocked.

5. Between the years 2009 and 2011, D levels in Canadian children dropped by 10.2%

6. Osteoporosis Canada recommends routine D supplementation for all Canadian adults ‘Year Round’.

7. As we age, our production of vitamin D declines due to the fact that as our skin thins, and there is less cholesterol available for the production of vitamin D with sun exposure.

8. New studies link low D serum levels with ordinary breast cancer incidence.

9. Conception rates, full-term births caesarean rates and birth weights, all relate directly to D levels.

10. Paediatricians insist breast milk does not contain sufficient D and encourage D supplementation.

11. The cells that pace our heartbeat need D to do their job.

12. White blood cells need adequate vitamin D to do their jobs properly; otherwise autoimmune diseases may occur. White blood cells seek out things like cancer cells and destroy them while you sleep…therefore get enough D!

13. In order to wake up refreshed and not aching all over you need adequate levels of D3.

14. With adequate D, at night when we sleep, our memories are solidified and our serotonin levels rise.

15. Vitamin D helps to improve memory and deal with stress more calmly.

16. D3 is more accurately defined as a hormone, a chemical that our bodies produce on our skin, in the presence of cholesterol and the suns’s UVB rays, that has a direct effect on other organs.

17. There are vitamin D receptors (VDRs) everywhere in our bodies, including our brainstem, stomach, GI tract, pancreas, blood cells, etc. D3 is essential to every cell, but this form is not found in food. Our body must synthesize it and our production of this hormone fluctuates seasonally.

18. Healthy bacteria, that make the majority of our B vitamins in our gut, die off when they don’t get enough vitamin D. The D receptors in our stomach are also directly involved with vitamin B absorption. When we can properly utilize the B vitamins from our food, it has a positive affect on our sleep.

Did You Know?

* You need vitamin K2 and D3 together for absorption
* Vitamin D is fat soluble…that means you need to consume it with healthy ‘fats’ in order for it to be absorbed
* Vitamin D2, the prescription and chemical form of vitamin D is often added to foods. Rats can use this, but humans and other animals such as dogs cannot!
* ‘Vitamin’ refers to something that our body can’t make.

What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas…perhaps…means a little bit more!” – Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Do you like cabbage rolls, but they take too much time to make?
Here’s a great one using ground turkey and cauliflower (instead of rice)…great way to get some added veggies into the kids. You can even cook these with some fresh cranberry sauce. We’ve modified it slightly from a paleo cookbook called ‘Practical Paleo’…

Cabbage Rolls
• 1 cabbage – Metro has a great one already cored and soaked in brine and vacuum packed; just open the package and take the leaves off! – it comes from St Jacobs. Other option … freeze your cabbage and when it thaws it will be soft enough to roll and fill … if you can’t do that … core your own, and place in a pot with about 2-3 inches of water and cook until soft.
• 1.5 cups finely grated cauliflower
• 1/3 cup of organic plain spaghetti sauce (use a 798ml jar and reserve the rest)
• sea salt/herbamore and pepper to taste
• 1 tsp sage
• 1 tsp rosemary
• 1 tsp thyme
• 1 tbsp fresh parsley
• 1.5 lbs ground turkey
• 2 cloves minced garlic
• 1/2 medium onion diced

Mix all ingredients (except cabbage) in a bowl. Pull apart 12 cabbage leaves. On one end of the cabbage add 1/4 cup of the above mixture. Roll the mixture inside the cabbage leaf, folding in the ends of the cabbage as you go. Place seam side down in a baking dish. Mix the cranberry sauce (below) with the remaining spaghetti sauce, cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Fresh Cranberry Sauce
• 1 pkg cranberries, fresh or frozen
• 1/4 cup water (I also like to use fresh squeezed OJ)
• 1 grated apple
• 4-8 drops stevia extract or to taste

Place all ingredients in a medium pot. Heat to boiling and simmer until cranberries begin to pop. Cool.

• Buy 2 Green Light and receive 1 for 1/2 price! What the heck is Green Light? Green Light is not just another chlorophyll or green super food product. It is a hand crafted, SPAGYRIC botanical which takes 60 to 90 days to move through a natural alchemical “fermentation” process creating one of the most highly concentrated formulas available today…and we have it!
• Know someone who’s looking for some great meditation music…checkout Holosync
• Looking for a powerful blender… how about a Vitamix…it has a 2 hp motor…we’ve been using ours for years…you can even make soup and grind your own grains!

Did you know…
• Chlorophyll is considered by many to be the “blood” of plants because chlorophyll molecules are structurally similar to hemoglobin. The main difference is that the central molecule in humans is iron and the central molecule in plants is magnesium. This was recognized in 1926 by Charles Schnabels.
• In 1936, Dr. Arthur Patek reported fascinating results from a study done with fifteen patients who were diagnosed as being anemic. They were asked to take different amounts of green foods along with iron. The level of blood hemoglobin and the number of red blood cells increased faster than with just taking iron alone. Based on this initial finding, further studies have now confirmed that the chemical perspective of chlorophyll is in fact, similar to the chemical structure of red blood cells.
• Pure unsweetened cranberries are great for bladder infections
• Naturally fermented cabbage is great for helping to heal your gut
• Garlic is great for your immune system
• Stevia is a great alternative natural sweetener that won’t affect your blood sugar and has zero calories. There are even non-bitter varieties available.

Brand or Logo?

Let’s start by clearing up any misconceptions between logos (also known as brand identity) and brands. In his book, Logo Design Workbook, designer Sean Adams describes it this way: A logo is not a brand unless it’s on a cow. A brand, rather, is the perception formed in the audience’s mind about a company, person or idea. This perception is the culmination of the logo, visuals, identity program, messages, products and actions. The designer doesn’t make a brand. Only the audience can do this. The designer’s role is to create one of the most important aspects of the brand—the logo or brand identity system.

A logo or brand identity can’t make a bad product or company better, but a well-designed identity will help position a product or company to realize its full potential. Brand identity builds awareness and customer loyalty. A company that invests in a creating a professional brand identity gives its management, sales agents, and employees a great tool to inspire team spirit internally and to connect with its customers in the marketplace. A professional identity becomes the face of a company or organization and is often the first connection between the brand and its target audience. In today’s mobile-enabled world there has never been greater opportunity for brand exposure and experiences. We all want to make a favourable first impression, don’t we?

A strong brand identity starts with a strong brand

Clarity and strategy regarding the values of your brand and how it should be positioned or perceived is the critical starting point before any design creative can begin. Armed with answers to essential briefing questions the designer can then create an identity that truly embodies what the brand stands for.

For Remembrance Day: Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of readiness to die. – G. K. Chesterton

There are 2 things we wanted to talk about this month. The first is the ‘flu’ and second is a story (a true one)!

Let’s start with the story. This may shed some light on some health issues people may be having. A week ago, I (Christine) was involved in a car accident. It’s expected to have some muscle aches and pains afterwards; it’s expected to be thrown out of whack emotionally. What I didn’t expect was breaking out in hives that evening and over the next week. They were on my neck, hands, legs, lower back, etc. It would be random throughout the day, in the morning, at night, when a room was too warm, certain clothing… If I had not just been through something as obvious as an accident, I would’ve assumed I was reacting to something I’ve ingested, touched or put on my skin. Now I could very well be sensitive to something like that but my body wasn’t showing any external symptoms – it was trying to manage things on it’s own internally! The added stress suddenly placed on my body, overloaded my circuits and created the cascade of symptoms… does that make sense? Well, the following quote should make more sense to everyone:

“Allergy is the cumulative effect of many insults to the body which over time haveoverwhelmed the body’s protective mechanisims. While dust may appear to be the cause of your runny nose, in reality it is only the trigger that activates the symptoms”

In my case the stress was the trigger that activated my symptoms… a powerful aha moment!

Okay, moving onwards…
It’s that time of year when the flu bug starts to show it’s nasty little self! We thought we’d give you a good little preventative protocol to help prevent you from being a target. This involves doing a few things:

A. Taking a few natural remedies – what are these you ask…well there are 4 of them and they’re homeopathic: Drg Milieu, Fl Milieu, Vac-Tox and Solray D spray and this is how to take them:
- Take 5 drops of drg milieu and 5 drops of fl milieu in a little water once a day starting on the first of the month until the 15th of the month. Take 6 sprays of Solray D once a day every day for 6 months
- On day 5 take 5 drops of Vac-tox. (that’s right for one day only)
- At the beginning of the next month repeat the steps for 5 more months. Now you don’t have to use the begining of the month as a start date, but it just makes it easier. You could just as easily start on the 15th!

B. Tonify your immune system (Wei Qi as they call it in Traditional Chinese Medicine) for the current H7N9 strain with our specialized acupuncture technique (of course without needles).

The products come in a package for $125 (plus tax) and should easily last 6 months. If you purchase the products now, we’ll give you 20% off the acupuncture (B above) and imprint the current flu strain into our Fl Milieu for you.

Did You Know?
- Vaccinations do not offer permanent immunity only your body can do that
- The Flu vaccine contains formaldehyde
- Some vaccines include peanut, dairy, gluten, soy derivatives – makes you wonder!
- Oh and don’t forget the mercury or aluminum as preservatives…neurotoxins!
- Check out this website: http://vran.org/about-vaccines/vaccine-ingredients/

Quote of the Month:

Every symptom is a healing strategy

This month we thought it would be beneficial to provide some important insights regarding allergies, sensitivities, intolerances (or whatever you’d like to call them):

1. Balance – when a body is in balance, all of it’s tissues and organs are able to function properly. Just think of a scale, when something weighs you down on one side, the body will be able to adjust and balance the scale by adding something to the other side. When you make continuous poor lifestyle choices, the body eventually becomes exhausted and can no longer balance the scale…and guess what…symptoms begin! It’s a sign that the body is struggling to cope with it’s internal and external environment.

2. Any symptom can be an allergy – A reaction can be immediate or more often delayed by up to 3-4 days. As an example, you eat the hotdog and you get diarhea later that day. You would probably recognize that the hotdog was the trigger. If on the other hand you ate a red pepper and a few days later noticed some joint pain, you would never think to make the connection.

3. Nutrient deficiency – When someone has an issue with a food they consume, the body will have difficulty absorbing its nutrients. Take milk for example, someone may drink several glasses daily but still be calcium deficient if they have an issue with milk!

4. Allergic Load – When the body has reached their maximum exposure to chemicals, food sensitivities, environmental pollution, etc…symptoms will appear. Total toxins + body malfunction = symptoms. In other words, if you have symptoms you must PAY ATTENTION. On the other side of the coin, ZERO symptoms does NOT imply health!!! These statements are really important because every food and substance we are exposed to have been tampered and altered in some way and our body has to cope with it.

5. Allergies don’t have a single cause – this can best be summarized by the following quote: “Allergy is the cumulative effect of many insults to the body which over time have overwhelmed the body’s protective mechanisims. While dust may appear to be the cause of your runny nose, in reality it is only the trigger that activates the symptoms in an already compromised individual.” – Carolee Bateson-Koch. Our body has reached it’s breaking point!Insanity

6. Take responsibility – There’s a famous definition for insanity: “Do the same thing over and over again, and expect different results”. If you keep the same habits that got you here in the first place, how can you get better? Remember, it’s taken years for your body to get to where it is, it can’t jump back to health overnight! You can be shown the path to better health, but it’s your choice as to whether to follow it…but know this…you will take the path only when YOU’RE ready and some never will be!

PS At No Allergies Please, we do not cure anything; we only eliminate the obstacles that are preventing your body from curing/healing ITSELF!

Did You Know?
* 60% of the population has unknown sensitivities
* The average person has 50 different sensitivities
* Allergies weaken your immune system over time, so that the body can no longer protect itself – this leads to all sorts of dis-eases
* According to James Breneman, MD, food allergies and intolerances are simply forms of malnutrition

Quote of the Month

“When you can stop you don’t want to, and when you want to stop, you can’t…” Luke Davies

Do you crave certain foods often?
Do you eat something knowing you’ll pay for it later?
Do you feel better after eating something?
Are you in denial – “I eat it all the time, I’m fine”
You can’t stop eating that certain something once you start…ie finish the whole bag!?

Well, guess what… you may be addicted and allergic!

Why is that?

First of all, we spend almost 70% of our day eating/digesting something – eating a lot, oftenand it takes absolutely forever to pass through our system (from our mouth to our cells or out the other end)

The more we consume the same thing (the big ones are wheat, corn, dairy, eggs, sugar, soy), the more our body has to use the same ‘digestive enzymes’ to digest that item. Eventually we become depleted in that enzyme and are no longer able to digest it properly…this stresses out our pancreas (one of the primary organs responsible for secreting enzymes). Just think sugar is in everything we eat (even salt). We eat dairy and wheat all day long every day. Eggs are in everything (even vaccines) and well, then soy is the newby!

It’s easier to get addicted to a refined processed food. Sugaraddiction is a perfect example. Real Whole Sugar Cane has all it’s nutrients. When it’s processed into white sugar everything has been stripped away and the body has to supply all the nutrients in order to digest it properly. This leads to nutrient deficiency and metabolic imbalance…leading again to addiction and cravings….In other words, you all need to see us to rebalance yourselves for sugar (LOL)!

To add insult to injury, most of us have compromised (incompetent) digestive systems. We can’t transform and transport nutrients properly. This triggers our immune system to come in and clean up the mess – ie attack and disarm undigested food particles. This is NOT the immune system’s real job!

So now what? You need to do to correct those addictions:
1) Replace the refined foods with real foods
2) Let us help you heal your incompetent gut
3) Have us help you rebalance yourself for those addictive foods

Did You Know?
- Eating the same thing often in order to remain free of symptoms (eg coffee), leads to chronic stress and eventual degenerative dis-ease
- 95% of food allergens are delayed reactions — symptoms can be delayed for up to 5 days
- A healthy body does NOT have unhealthy cravings
- Ragweed season has started, but we see many around that have yet to bloom!
